SRC "Planeta" is a leading organization in exploiting and development of national satellite Earth observation systems for hydrometeorological, oceanographic, heliogeophysical and environmental purpose and also in receiving and processing data from foreign satellites. SRC "Planeta" works in cooperation with national hydrometeorological services and space agencies of more than 30 countries.
SRC "Planeta" is executing operative control and guidance management of ground system for receiving and processing satellite data that includes three regional centers: European center (SRC "Planeta", Moscow, with branch offices in Obninsk and Dolgoprudny), Siberian center (regional department in Novosibirsk) & Far-Eastern center (regional department in Khabarovsk).
The main functions of SRC “Planeta”:
- processing and archiving of data, received earlier from russian satellite systems and a number of foreign satellites;
- assembling, processing and archiving of data from Russian and foreign satellites;
- scientific and technical guidance of APT, HRPT and WEFAX receiving stations;
- supplying clients (Roshydromet, Department of Defense, Emergency Control Ministry etc.) with satellite data.
